It seems like all major movie production houses in Hollywood want to get their hands on Glen Powell. There is no denying that the Twisters actor’s fame has skyrocketed in the last couple of years, primarily due to the record-breaking BO run of Top Gun: Maverick (2022) and the shocking commercial success of Anyone But You (2023). Now, Powell has revealed that he missed starring in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer by a slim margin.
In his recent interview with GQ, Powell revealed he was pretty close to starring in Nolan’s Oscar-winning Oppenheimer. He would have portrayed the Nobel-winning nuclear physicist, Ernest Lawrence, played by Josh Hartnett. Additionally, he added that he was still in touch with the acclaimed director and would like to work with him in the future.
Plus, Powell disclosed his intentions of not working on superhero projects. However, he was open to don the cape of Batman for a movie. But he does not want his Caped Crusader to follow Matt Reeves’ tone. “I would have a wild take on Batman. It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone – it’d probably be closer to Keaton. Oh, sick!”
Glen Powell made the news some days ago when he revealed about not choosing to star in the next Jurassic World movie. The actor has made a name for himself in Hollywood, no one can deny that. But he has earned a reputation for being “picky” with his movie roles. He will appear in Richard Linklater’s Hit Man and Lee Isaac Chung’s Twisters. The former has earned critical acclaim, with special praise directed at Powell’s performance. On the other hand, Twisters looks to revive a “once popular but now dead” movie genre – climate-panic blockbusters. Stay tuned for more updates.
