Since its inception, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has done a fabulous job of adapting and revolutionizing notable stories from Marvel Comics. Although, the superhero franchise also encountered some hiccups along the way, particularly in Phase Four and Phase Five. Still, the franchise would not have reached this far without its ability to adapt comic storylines beautifully into films. As the franchise expanded, Marvel Studios also paved the way for television shows. Because of that, we now have What If…? Season 2 and a brand new superhero, Kahhori.
Episode 6 of What If…? Season 2 launched a completely new and original superhero, Kahhori. Considering the MCU’s notoriety for sticking tightly with prominent Marvel superheroes, introducing Kahhori was surely a significant risk the franchise took. And we have to admit that the risk paid off. Kahhori is indeed a compelling and strong character, possessing immense cosmic powers and superhuman abilities (thanks to the Space Stone).
In Episode 6, titled “What If… Kahhori Reshaped the World?”, the protagonist is a young Mohawk woman who resides in a pre-colonial America. While trying to save herself from Spanish conquistadors, she falls into the ‘forbidden lake.’ The Tesseract (Space Stone) located at the bottom of the lake transports her to another dimension and gives her cosmic powers. The new dimension is called the “Sky World,” where people receive powers and become ‘immortal.’
Kahhori learns how to use her powers from her new tribe. However, she realises that she needs to return to her real dimension to save her people there. With the help of her cosmic powers, she travels back and protects her people.
Kahhori is a completely new character in the MCU. While other popular heroes have been transformed, Kahhori has been developed from scratch by the franchise. She is yet to appear in the main timeline. In the future, we could see her live-action version appearing in one of the upcoming MCU projects. Let’s hope for the best! Stay tuned for more updates.
