Wu Assassins, a Netflix series, was released back in 2019 and quickly became a fan favourite. The series till now has only one season and has been renewed for a second season. The pandemic as usual has caused the delay in the production of the upcoming season. But just when fans were expecting news on the upcoming season, the news of an upcoming movie based on the same characters and universe of the Wu Assassins has been making headlines.
The upcoming movie is titled as “Fistful of Vengeance” and will be directed by Roel Reine. The movie will bring back the characters from the series that created its own fan base; the movie is slated to 90 minutes long at the moment. The writers of the series are to come forward for the movie too. It has been announced that few new characters will also be joining the cast of the movie.
The latest members of the team are reportedly Pearl Thusi, Rhatha Phongam, Francesca Torney and Jason Tobin. The cast is set to shoot the movie Bangkok, Thailand and the story follows the journey of the team as they unite to take revenge against the one that killed their own. Later their search ends leads them to know a secret about their potential enemy.
It would be interesting to see how well the connection of the movie is set with the series. Netflix has brought about a clever way to keep fans interested in a certain franchise. This sometimes might even backfire, as too many timelines can mean a start of confusion and no one enjoys watching something that can bore you with the innumerable timelines. With movies for such series Netflix can easily gather attention as film would need less dedication than a series and also people can equally enjoy it like a series.
This is more and more necessary for series like Wu Assassins, which has similar storyline to many others too. This helps them to stand out eventually. The idea of creating and dedicating a movie to a certain character of a series, though is an interesting plot. This new movie from the Wu Assassins franchise can eventually end up enjoying the same or greater fame, than that of its original series.
