What Is Shahid Kapoor’s OTT Debut Film All About? We Bring You All The Info

Netflix is releasing another Indian Armed Forces biographical epic, this time with OTT debutant ‘Haider’ actor Shahid Kapoor. Kapoor will portray Brigadier Farukh Bulsara who was the hero of ‘Operation Cactus’, (which is also the name of the film) with directorial debutant Aditya Nimbalkar helming the project.

Way back in 1988, a group of 200 Maldivians attempted a coup to overthrow the government led by the then-President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, in the island republic of Maldives. The coup d’etat failed after the Indian Armed Forces eliminated the terrorist leaders of PLOTE (People’s Liberation Organization of Tamil Eelam), a Tamil secessionist organization from Sri Lanka who is said to have armed and aided the Maldivian defectors. The Indian Navy later intercepted and captured the members who attempted to flee to Sri Lanka.

With movies like Uri: The Surgical Strike and Razi, Indian patriotic films themed around the country’s defence (Indian Intelligence/Armed Forces) and their operations have been huge hits among the Indian audience. Putting an acting veteran and Bollywood star (Shahid Kapoor) in the movie while re-enacting an important moment in the country’s defense history will likely score big with the Indian film buffs as well as the patriots.

The action thriller is expected to start shooting next year in July after Shahid Kapoor’s commitment to the film ‘Jersey’ is completed. Shahid Kapoor has also signed a multi project deal with Netflix, so we can expect more content to come out on the digital platform starring the ‘Jab We Met’ superstar.
