Thangalaan proved to be the highest grossing film this month after Stree 2, and the highest grossing non Hindi film. The movie had the best opening day collection for Vikram’s film career and the movie is about to reach the mark of 100 crores worldwide collection in just two weeks. The movie was about to be released in Hindi dub on 30th August, but now the release has been shifted to September 6th. It is interesting to analyse how the Hindi release will help the movie or will it be a disaster?
The movie as already has been covered by multiple critics is a masterpiece of the cinematic craft. The performance, the story, the graphics etc. have all been a treat to watch. The movie was a great success among the Tamil and Telugu audience and has earned about 45 crores in the first two weeks. It is noteworthy that the movie has made this collection only in the Southern states, for example Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The Hindi speaking audience waits in excitement for the movie to be available to them. This surely ensures a good revenue for the movie in the Hindi language.
Also, the stardom of Vikram plays a big role. Several names like Rajinikanth, Vikram, Prabhas etc. have a big fan base in the north. This causes a big advantage for Thangalaan to be a hit in the northern states. The last few films of Vikram like Ponniyin Selvan series, Mahaan etc. were huge hits in the northern states. This increases the chance for Thangalaan to be a successful venture. Also, in recent years, movies with huge budgets and action have delivered quite well in the box office in the northern states. Thangalaan carries this advantage as well.
Hence, the movie is about to have a great release in Hindi language and is supposed to get a great reception from the audience. Also, the movie’s decline in collections after two weeks in regional languages will receive a rejuvenation after its release in Hindi.
