One of the most prominent reasons people have detached themselves from Bollywood is remakes. Even after multiple flops of films as great as Vikram Vedha (2022), the industry is nowhere near learning a lesson.
Remakes of the Malayalam film Hridyam and many more are already in development. Sadly, Bollywood is ready to remake/ruin classic Hindi films that stay in the hearts of people.
If you remember, then Anand is also getting remade, and people raged after the announcement. They brutally trolled the announcement post, alleging that it would ruin the classic.
But, the industry is thick-skinned, and they are remaking Koshish, Mili, and Bawarchi. Jaadugar Films and Sameer Raj Sippy have announced plans to remake these exceptionally beautiful films starring Jaya Bachchan.
They are one of the defining films of the 1970s. When the Hindi film industry was drowned in the hangover of Angry Young Man, these offbeat films would set themselves as a precursor to the parallel cinema movement of the 1980s.
They were originally directed by the expert hands of Gulzar and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Interestingly, they all starred Jaya Bachchan.
Some films are better when untouched, and these movies exactly fall in this category. Let’s see how they perform.
