When talking about regional OTT giants, you can’t have a conversation without mentioning Hoichoi, and rightly so—they have changed the face of the Bengali industry. Now, they’ve released their upcoming slate, which looks exciting.
First on the list is Puro Puri Eken. The middle-aged Bengali detective with a splash of unmatched humor and his two musketeers will be back with another mystery in Puri, a favorite destination for Bengali people. After his adventure in Dooars, fans will be eager to see him in action again. Anirban Chakrabarty will also return as Eken Babu, and fans are already rekindling their excitement.
Then comes Talmar Romeo Juliet. Not much has been revealed about this upcoming series. Directed by Arpan Garai, it stars Debdutta Raha, Hiya Roy, and Payel De. The creative director of the series is actor Anirban Bhattacharya, who is also rumored to appear in the show.
And if you love thrillers, Nikhoj Season 2 is just the series for you. Featuring Swastika Mukherjee and Tota Roy Chowdhury, this series will transport you to a world of cop drama and thriller.
Another thriller on the slate is Rongila Kitab. It’s a Bengali thriller about Pradeep, a small-town goon who plans to leave a life of crime but is wrongfully convicted of murder. Directed by Anam Biswas, the series stars Pori Moni and Mostafizur Noor Imran.
If you’re seeking drama, Bohemian Ghora might be your choice. The series follows Abbas, a truck driver married to seven women in different districts, keeping each marriage secret. His life unravels when his eighth attempt causes trouble. Starring Mosharraf Karim, it’s a drama directed by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury.
Nikosh Chhaya is also set to release on October 31st, and it became an instant hit with its mythological horror elements. With a cast that includes Chiranjeet Chakrabarty, Surangana Bandyopadhyay, Arna Mukhopadhyay, Gaurav Chakrabarty, and Anindita Bose, this series looks very promising.
For murder mystery fans, Kaalratri is one to look out for. Releasing in December, the plot revolves around Devi. On her wedding day, Devi fears her friend’s prediction of her husband’s imminent death, pulling her into a web of mystery and danger.
Then comes Bishohori, a modern retelling of Behula and Lokhindor. At the Mitra family’s Nagpanchami festival, mysterious deaths stir chaos. New bride Rajnandini uncovers the deception behind the alleged curse of Goddess Manasha. The theme sounds intriguing, and if they deliver, it could be one of the most promising series on the slate.
Mimi Chakraborty will also make an appearance in Dainee, which translates to Witch. The plot sounds quite interesting: estranged sisters Pata and Lata reunite when Pata returns to Kolkata for her inheritance. Discovering that Lata has been branded a witch, Pata fights to end the brutal witch-hunt.
And saving the best for last—why not some Feluda? Srijit Mukherji and Tota Roy Chowdhury will be back with their Feluda series. The first season was quite successful, and this time, they’ll be taking their adventure to Kashmir. And for the Anirban Chakrabarty fans, don’t worry… he’ll be back as Jatayu.
Now, except Nikosh Chhata, none of these have a release date yet but these do look like an exciting slate, If they deliver, Bengali audience will have a fun year ending, that’s for sure.
