‘Snowpiercer’ is one series that has received consistently good ratings and appreciation from viewers. The series premiered in May 2020, bang in the midst of the Covid-19 lockdown. The positive ratings garnered by the show helped it to get renewed for subsequent seasons. After two well-received seasons, Snowpiercer Season 3 is all set to begin airing soon. Snowpiercer streams globally on Netflix, including in India. This time around too, Snowpiercer Season 3 will stream in India on Netflix. As regards the ‘when’, Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 1 is premiering soon in the USA. The show will premiere on TNT on 24th January in the USA. Fortunately for international audiences, Snowpiercer Season 3 will stream almost simultaneously on Netflix. Episode 1 of the show will stream on Netflix India on January 25th at 1:30 pm IST. Subsequent episodes of the show will stream every Tuesday on Netflix.
For the unversed, the Snowpiercer series is based on the 2013 Bong Joon-Ho film of the same name, and on the 1982 French graphic novel ‘Le Transperceneige’ by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand and Jean-Marc Rochette. It is a dystopian thriller that centres on class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival. Bong Joon-Ho is aboard the project as executive producer.
A climate experiment to control global warming goes terribly wrong, triggering a second ice age and transforming the world into a frozen wasteland. Snowpiercer is set seven years after the event, and follows the remnants of humanity who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that constantly circles the globe. One round that the train, called Snowpiercer, makes across the globe is marked as one year on the train.
Survivors on the train are separated into the various compartments, on the basis of the class and social positions unique to the train. The front, opulent compartments are reserved for those who are placed higher in the social hierarchy of the train. Lower social order humans languish in squalid conditions in the tail of the train.
Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) and Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) lead the cast, alongside Mickey Sumner, Annalise Basso, Sasha Frolova, Alison Wright, Benjamin Haigh, Roberto Urbina, Katie McGuinness, Susan Park, Lena Hall, Sheila Vand, Sam Otto, Iddo Goldberg, Jaylin Fletcher, Rowan Blanchard, Steven Ogg, and Sean Bean. Archie Panjabi and Chelsea Harris are the new faces to join the cast of Snowpiercer Season 3. Mike O’Malley has been elevated to a series regular in his role as Sam Roche.
In Snowpiercer Season 3, a dangerous rift is brewing among the passengers of the train, as they are divided between their loyalty to the revolutionary Layton (Daveed Diggs) and to Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean), creator of the Snowpiercer train.
