Tom Cruise‘s latest movie ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ has been setting the worldwide box office on fire, ever since it hit theatres globally on May 27. And the film is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon even now, in its 12th week of release. ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ has raked in a massive $1.38 billion worldwide until now, becoming the highest-grossing film of Tom Cruise’s illustrious career. ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ has also set a few milestones for its production company, Paramount Pictures. It is now the highest grossing film of all time for Paramount Pictures, beating previous record-holder, ‘Titanic’.
While audiences are still thronging theatres to watch ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘, its now time for the film to make its debut on streaming, albeit on paid video on demand. For all those eagerly awaiting the streaming release of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ in India, you’ll be glad to know that the Tom Cruise film arrives on PVOD in India on August 24. ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ will be available to rent or buy on BookMyShow Stream from August 24. It will also most likely be available to rent on the Prime Video Rental Store from August 24. There’s no confirmation from the latter about it though.
Interestingly, the PVOD release of Top Gun: Maverick will happen in India along with the rest of the world (August 23, as per US time). Very few films have premiered on PVOD in India along with their global release. Top Gun: Maverick happens to be one of those very few films.
Top Gun: Maverick’s PVOD release on August 24 gives the movie an exclusive 90-day theatrical window, a month less than Tom Cruise’s wish for a 120-day theatrical window for the film. ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ will release on DVD, Blu-ray and 4k HD on November 1.
Post its PVOD release, Top Gun: Maverick will most likely stream on Prime Video India for regular subscribers as SVOD or subscription-based Video on Demand. Prime Video India is the streaming home for most Paramount Pictures films in India. Our guess is that the film will arrive on regular streaming around a month after its PVOD debut.
