There is no denying that one of the most anticipated movies of 2021, 83, is having a hard time at the box office. More than 12 days have passed since it dropped in the theatres. Still, it has grossed 166.67 crores globally. Its domestic figures are even more disappointing. The movie has not yet touched the prestigious 100-crore mark in India. Its domestic collection currently stands at 93 crores. This scenario has generated several rumours regarding the immediate release of the film on OTT. Here’s what we know so far about this matter.
Various sources have confirmed that the makers of ‘83’ are not looking to launch their mega-budget project on OTT platforms right now. They want the movie to run in theatres for at least eight weeks after its release on 24th December last year. It means we can watch the film on streaming platforms at the end of February or in March this year. However, we have no confirmation regarding this case. We will have to wait for the makers’ official announcement.
It seems like Kabir Khan’s team still has hopes from his latest sports biographical drama. The film has a long way to go to emerge as a box office success. But the current COVID situation and the Omicron surge have spoiled the mood for the makers. That’s why the producers of Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey have also decided to postpone the movie’s release, scheduled to take place on 31st December last year.
