Jurassic World Dominion is out now in theatres worldwide. However, it seems like Universal will end the franchise for good after this one. The movie currently has a 34% “rotten” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the lowest-rated Jurassic World project ever. The negative critical reception may affect the film’s theatrical performance. It may even arrive on OTT sooner than expected.
Critics have pointed out various weak points in Jurassic World Dominion including its weak script, over-reliance on nostalgia, and not-so-amazing performances. Some even felt like Universal dealt with the project like a contract finisher rather than treating it as an epic conclusion to the franchise. Although, the visuals, dinosaur designs, action sequences, and Michael Giacchino’s score received some praise.
The deal between Universal and Peacock streaming service allows the former to keep its big theatrical projects in theatres for up to four months. It means viewers will not see this one hitting OTT after 45 days of theatrical run. Another thing that works in the favour of Universal is that the Jurassic World franchise is very popular among people. Despite its strong negative critical reception, it may bestow the studio with good profits after completing its 4-month theatrical tenure.
Will Jurassic World Dominion arrive on Indian OTT platforms anytime soon? Well, all the previous entries are available on Amazon Prime Video. So, we can expect the movie to hit the streaming service after its 4-month theatrical run. It means somewhere in September or October this year. As for Netflix, Universal struck a deal with the streaming giant last year. According to that deal, viewers won’t be able to see Dominion until 2026 on the platform. Furthermore, the probability of its arrival on Disney+ Hotstar is almost negligible. Stay tuned for more updates.
