Where To Stream These 6 Must Watch Urvashi Films!

2020 may have been one of the worst years we ever faced collectively, due to the pandemic, but the same can’t be said for Kavitha Ranjini AKA Urvashi’s professional career. In fact, 2020 has made her appear in three hit films, marking her fourth decade in the film industry with a well earned flourish. The actor is a metaphorical chameleon in any role she plays and is one of the best in her generation. Throughout her career, she has mostly been given supporting roles, even when she plays a love interest but she makes her mark in every movie, no matter how small. So this week, let’s take a look at these 6 Must Watch Urvashi movies and where to stream them:

Achuvinte Amma

Achuvinte Amma

One of the few movies, where Urvashi gets to play a leading role, Achuvinte Amma follows a young woman, Achu and her mother who live together. Although they are happy, Achu is never told about her father by her mother and that has been a sore point between them for some time. Everything comes to head, when Achu’s mother opposes her love for Ijo, a man who grew up as an orphan. Although Achuvinte Amma is not one of the best movies Urvashi has acted in, it is still one of her better performances. It is available on demand on YouTube and Amazon.

Thalayana Manthram

Thalayanamanthram

In this movie, Urvashi plays a more different role than her normal ones – a jealous and an entitled woman. The film follows her and her husband as she disrupts their joint family so that they can live on their own in a glamorous lifestyle – which they cannot afford. This movie is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Bharatham

Bharatham

Again playing a love interest in Bharatham to the lead actor Mohanlal who portrays Gopi, a singer, Urvashi plays a slightly more subdued, yet eye-catching role in this movie. The movie follows two brothers – one on the cusp of classical music greatness, the other squandering his greatness by drinking. Check out this old-school family musical Malayalam drama on Disney+ Hotstar.

Michael Madana Kama Rajan

Michael Madana Kama Rajan

The film tells a story of quadruplets, Michael, Madhanagopal, Kameshwaran, and Raju, all played by Kamal Haasan. The actor has given varying accents, styles and body language to all four characters. This movie is more of a celebration of Kamal Hassan’s acting, but Urvashi is brilliant even in her meagre appearance. See it on MX Player, Hungama, Sun NXT, EROS NOW and Amazon Prime Video.

Spadikam

Spadikam

This critical hit was also the highest grossing Malayalam movie of 1995. Spadikam follows a young man, Thomas, who runs away from home after his father, Chacko Master, a school headmaster degrades him regularly. He returns, years later to battle it out with his father. Urvashi plays THomas’ love-interest and she is ridiculously funny and brilliant at the same time. See her acting prowess in the movie which is running on Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video simultaneously.

Soorarai Pottru -urvashi

Soorarai Pottru

The Sudha Kongara directed biopic is the only biggie that delivered across all the industries in India in 2020. Of course, Suriya, the main star was brilliant in the film, but no one can ignore the brilliant performance Urvashi gave in this movie. The movie follows Maara, a young man who dreams of building his very own airlines. He must however overcome many challenges and obstacles to do so. This movie is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

There are a lot more movies starring Urvashi – check most of it out on our database here, on our website.
