Baran bo Odar became a well-known name in content circles ever since his ‘Dark’, Netflix‘s mind-bending sci-fi show, became a global sensation. Crazed fans are waiting breathlessly for his next work ‘1899’ to hit Netflix, which isn’t likely to happen until the beginning of 2022. But did you know that before Dark made him famous, another of his creations had made audiences, critics, and industry folk sit up and take sharp notice of him?
Well, the creation was Who Am I, a German techno-thriller film. And the most crucial bit about it is this – Netflix is bringing the acclaimed film for Indian viewers this February. Let us also add, dear readers, we’re in for a treat! Who Am I comes to Netflix India on 26th February.
What’s a techno-thriller, you may ask, and what is the plot of the movie? Who Am I is a psychological and suspenseful thriller that is set in the backdrop of ultra high-tech computer hacking – hence, techno-thriller, a portmanteau of the words ‘technology’ and ‘thriller’.
Who Am I delves into the dangerous and high tech world of computer hacking, the Darknet, the Russian cyber mafia, along with casting a sharp eye on the greed for the unbridled power that comes with pulling off audacious cyber crimes under the cloak of ultimate invisibility.
It is a gripping, edge-of-the-seat thriller that holds one in thrall throughout. More importantly, it makes one think how no system is safe from the prying eyes of skilled hackers. FYI, ‘No System Is Safe’ is also the tagline of Who Am I.
The movie premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won audience appreciation. It has also won a clutch of significant German film awards.
Who Am I premieres on Netflix India on 26th February! Mark your calendars, folks!
