Canadian writer William Gibson’s multi-award-winning novel ‘Neuromancer’ is considered one of the earliest and best-known works in the cyberpunk genre. Since 2024 has already proved to be the year of adaptations, Gibson’s iconic work is on its way to getting adapted too!
Apple TV+ is officially developing the best-selling book as a limited ten-episode series and British actor Callum Turner has been cast in the lead role. The drama follows a damaged, super-hacker named Case who is thrust into a sinister web of digital espionage and high-stakes crime.
Along with his partner Molly, an assassin with sharp eyes, he aims to pull off a heist on a corporate dynasty that is keeping numerous untold secrets under wraps.
Previously, Turner starred in Apple TV+’s World War II series “Masters of the Air” alongside a cast that included Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan. In films, he is known for his work in the Fantastic Beasts franchise as well as features such as “Queen and Country,” “Green Room,” and “The Boys in the Boat.”
Necromancer is an important book in pop-culture history as it led Gibson to publish two more follow-ups, “Count Zero” and “Mona Lisa Overdrive.” Moreover, there have been various attempts over the years to adapt the book into a film. Yet, none have ultimately moved forward.
With Apple TV+ taking the lead, fans are anticipating a worth-the-wait adaptation!
