Ahmed Rubel’s movie on Satyajit Ray has released a long time back and still is not streaming anywhere in India. It is a Bangladeshi film titled ‘Priyo Satyajit’ or ‘Dear Satyajit’ and is directed by Proshoon Rahmaan. The movie is streaming in the USA and UK on Amazon Prime Video but it is strange that it is not available to watch in India.
In a recent interview the director has said, “Thinking about the country’s tumultuous situation, I didn’t feel like making the news public, which is why the announcement arrived late.” The film was a tribute film that came during the birth centenary of Satyajit Ray and Ahmed Rubel played the role of Satyajit Ray.
But it is strange that the movie is streaming in two far-away countries and still not streaming in India. There have been a lots of movies about Satyajit Ray and a lots of tribute movies on other directors as well. It is being overdone a bit but that does not mean that we will not get to see what a well known Bangladeshi filmmaker has done with such a subject. Ahmed Rubel has recently passed away, and people are intrigued to see the work that he has done.
Prime Video should release ‘Priyo Satyajit’ as soon as possible and if it is to stream on any other OTT platform then too it should not do any more delay now.
