When ‘Ten Hours’ made it’s way to OTT in just three weeks after it’s theatrical release many thought the film probably doesn’t have what it takes. But the early digital premiere rather came as a delightful surprise not just for e makers but also the viewers.
A one night investigative thriller drama directed by Ilayaraja Kaliyaperumal, ‘Ten Hours’ follows the protagonist inspector Castro (Sibi Sathyaraj) who races against time to uncover the truth within ten hours after a mysterious murder takes place on an overnight bus from Chennai to Coimbatore, unnoticed by the passengers.
‘Ten Hours’ did not get the reception it might have expected upon its theatrical release with critics citing what could have been a taut whodunnit thriller faltered because of unconvincing motives.
Despite what critics had to say ‘Ten Hours’ is doing pretty good on the digital medium. The film premiered on Prime Video on 9th May and has been in the Top 10 ever since. Moreover, the film is also available on Tenkotta and has maintained a good position there too.
Even the public reactions for ‘Ten Hours’ post digital release has been great. People are liking the gripping, fast paced narrative and screenplay, backed by good performance from lead actor Sathyaraj.
Just like we saw in the case of ‘The Diplomat’ and ‘Odela 2’ recently, ‘Ten Hours’ once again proves how OTTs breathes a new life into projects that are often ignored on the big screen.
The option to watch a film in a language you prefer, at a timing of your convenience and from the comfort of your space, shapes the viewpoint of an OTT viewer which is very different from that of a moviegoer. One ain’t bound by what critics have to say on digital medium and thus feels empowered to have that freedom of choice and look at a film from a completely different lens.
