SonyLIV‘s highly delayed but anticipated series Dr. Arora is just a few days from getting released. The series is led by Kumud Mishra who plays the role of sexologist Dr. Vishesh Arora.
Let’s be honest, although we keep finding walls painted with sexologists’ addresses throughout the city, it is still taboo. No one really talks about those problems which actually exist.
Regardless, Imtiaz Ali is coming up with Dr. Arora which will certainly bring at least a certain conversation about the taboo. In the character teaser, the tagline for Dr. Vishesh Arora says, “Ye Rog Se Pehle Soch Ke Chikitsak Hain”.
In Bollywood, we have a plethora of films that talked about taboo topics. The trend started with films set in small towns which later started making a great number of social comedies.
In series, however, we do not have many great examples where social topics or taboos were discussed. Dr. Arora is a bold and new step in that which can be another trendsetter in the OTT industry.
Given the trailer of the series, humor is certain throughout the series which is always in demand. Although She Season 2 on Netflix was a huge turn-off, Imtiaz Ali is still a man to look up to in terms of good concept shows.
Thus it might emerge as a sleeper hit because we have seen such examples in Bollywood which might repeat.
