The Malayalam film audience is becoming a witness to the upcoming ‘larger than life’ projects. But is the most-awaited movie getting delayed? What could be the reason for this?
‘Barroz- The One Who Guards the Treasure’ is the first directorial venture of Actor Mohanlal who himself is hoped to appear as its titular character. The movie will be produced by Antony Perumbavoor for Aashirvad Cinemas.
Based on the novel ‘Barroz: Guardian of Da Gama’s Treasure’ by Jijo Punnose, Santosh Sivan will handle the cinematography and editing will be done by B. Ajithkumar. Also, the movie will be joined by T.K Rajeev Kumar as its script advisor and Kalavoor Ravikumar as its additional dialogue writer. Also, Jijo Punnoose is known as the first filmmaker to direct the first 3D film in India.
According to the premise, Barroz, a treasure guardian, has been protecting Vasco da Gama’s hidden treasure for 400 years and has been given to hand over the wealth only to a true descendant of da Gama. The crux of the movie shows it to be a children’s film with a heavy canvas along with a decent storytelling style.
However, the possibility of upcoming clashes in the big screen releases like ‘Barroz’ and ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ does not seem to be expected albeit the excitement factor like their similarity in focusing on the children’s audience.
As per credible reports, the release date of the Mohanlal movie is not yet finalized so it is speculated it is holding major multiplex screens across the globe by the Hollywood effort, during the Christmas season.
Furthermore, since ‘Barroz’ is a flick relying heavily on its technical expertise as well as a wide canvas, it deserves to get premium screens. Hence, the possibility is that the date might get postponed to the next week after ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’.
‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ is an American musical drama film directed by Barry Jenkins from a screenplay by Jeff Nathanson. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Pastel Productions, the film is photo-realistically animated, and both a prequel and sequel to the 2019 remake of the 1994 film ‘The Lion King’.
Meanwhile, the awestruck production design by Santhosh Raman and exemplary cinematography by Santosh Sivan are highly expected factors and would have a lot to do with the movie. The music by the prodigy Lydian Nadhaswaram is another big hope for enshrining the effort.
Again, Renowned Hollywood composer Mark Kilian is another expectation in producing a blend of intriguing as well as soothing background scores. On an important note, the high-octane expectation of the Actor becoming Director Mohanlal is a prevalent factor for its theatrical release.
As of now, the 25th of December is the date of release under discussion, and stay tuned in Binged for more updates regarding ‘Barroz’.
