The trend of re-releasing films in theatres has been around for quite some time now. However, despite having previously garnered a dedicated fan-base for certain titles, timely marketing continues to remain a deciding factor in whether or not the re-release does well commercially.
Not making the audience aware of a fan-beloved film hitting cinemas again can negatively impact the overall legacy of the experience. One title, loved throughout the country for its unique storytelling antics and captivating visuals is Rahi Anil Barve’s 2018 horror thriller ‘Tumbbad’.
Most recently, director Imtiaz Ali’s titles ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Laila Majnu’, which were re-released in theatres, caught the attention of viewers once again, with the latter’s box-office collections even surpassing its initial earnings by a four-fold margin!
However, ‘Tumbbad’, despite being appreciated by many, is not quite on the way to receiving the welcome back it deserves. With an official re-release date of September 13 being announced recently and without much frivol, the filmmakers aren’t doing justice to the nationwide legacy of the beautiful yet daunting tale.
However, one can only hope that as word spreads in the next three days, the film will be able to reach its targeted audience once again. Nevertheless, for those aware and awaiting, head on over to your nearest cinemas to catch Hastar, the never-to-be-worshipped monster, on September 13!
