Zee5 is bringing something huge. They have this terrible disadvantage over other platforms where they simply fail to match. Be it Netflix or Prime Video or Disney+Hotstar, they have a lot of foreign content.
Since they are primarily USA-based platforms (not Hotstar), they bring a lot of International titles which help them survive in the Indian market too.
Since Zee5 is purely Indian without collaborate with any foreign platform, it solely relies on Indian shows and movies. But since the audience has so many options today, they don’t solely depend on Indian shows.
So to fix that issue, Zee5 has made a slate of more than 100 international hits now streaming on their platform in Hindi dubbing.
But don’t get confused. A great number of them are actually Chinese films with poor dubbing.
Yes, in fact, some are even available on YouTube for free in the same Hindi dubbing.
The whole slate is nothing more than a useless investment that needed to be avoided.
The focus should be on American or Korean content which is in high demand in India. The Chinese are never known for making good quality cinema and nor do they have a great audience.
This whole decision by Zee5 is nothing less than baffling.
