Today, R Madhavan‘s much-awaited film ‘Rocketry: The Nambie Effect’ began streaming on Prime Video India, much to the delight of film connoisseurs. In a happy coincidence, the day of release for Rocketry on Prime Video coincided with Kargil Vijay Diwas, which is celebrated today, on 26th July.
However, Prime Video India subscribers were acutely disappointed when they found that ‘Rocketry: The Nambie Effect‘ is available to stream on Prime Video only in the four South languages of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. The Hindi version of Rocketry is not streaming on Prime Video yet, and there’s no information on when it will be available to stream.
Needless to say, Hindi-speaking viewers of Prime Video are livid with the streaming giant for this betrayal of sorts. Prime Video’s social media handles are brimming with comments from incensed viewers on the no-show for Rocketry in Hindi.
Which brings us to the question – why did Prime Video not release Rocketry in Hindi on its platform? As per trade insiders, the reason is said to be the excellent business that the Hindi version of Rocketry is doing in Hindi belts in the Northern and Western regions of the country. Good word of mouth has led to brisk sales at the ticket windows of theatres up North. In such a scenario, when Rocketry in Hindi is doing so well in the Hindi belts, it makes sound business sense to not jeopardise collections by releasing the Hindi version of Rocketry on streaming. This seems to be the primary reason for Rocketry in Hindi not releasing on Prime Video along with the South languages versions.
As to when viewers can expect the Hindi version of Rocketry: The Nambie Effect to release on Prime Video, August 1 seems to be the most likely date for its OTT release. A few sources have mentioned a release window of first week of August for Rocketry in Hindi to release on Prime Video. The streamer itself is famously non-committal on the release date for Rocketry in Hindi.
