We have been giving some really updated news about Maharaj. Within minutes we confirmed that the court has given clearance to this film by Yash Raj Films and Netflix India. The makers did not show any lethargy and released the movie on Netflix India literally minutes after the clearance order we saw Maharaj streaming on Netflix India.
At Binged we have always promoted the freedom of creators to show the kind of film they want to. We even wrote against the unnecessary drama around Maharaj as some organizations made allegations without watching anything from the film.
But what happened now? Why are we saying that it was better left unreleased?
Because the film is indeed a painful experience. Yes, it is not an offensive film for us but what crap did YRF and Netflix India make…what crap?
The film becomes unbearable after 30 minutes. The lead actor is the son of Aamir Khan and he is nowhere ready for getting a film. There were so many things he could learn from his father but he simply turned out to be a massive disappointment.
The performances are just too bad. This applies to the overly fake sets and the exaggerated dialogues. Bollywood set designers make things look so perfect that they end up looking unrealistic and so is the case here.
Yash Raj Films have delivered a terrible film that was simply not ready for a release. Thanks to the controversy around it, some people will still swarm up around it.
