Tollywood Star Nagarjuna‘s Action Drama Wild Dog was supposed to skip its theatrical release and stream online directly on Netflix. But then, it never happened and the movie is going to release the movie in theaters on April 2nd as Summer Special. There were speculations about how the team could actually walk out of an agreement with an international giant just like that. The Director of the film, Ahishor Solomon explained it in an interview.
“At that time, we were not sure when the theaters would open and how the audience would respond. At that time, we got a very good offer from Netflix. The Producer asked my opinion. I said go-ahead if it makes profits. It was a good deal and when we were finalizing the formalities, Krack released and it was a blockbuster even with 50% occupancy. So, we immediately quit the table. Wild Dog was a film made for a theatrical experience, so we are glad that our movie is releasing in theaters,” he said.
Even though the deal was signed, the makers did not want to leave Netflix high and dry after so many rounds of meetings. So, they finalized the post-theatrical Digital Rights deal for Netflix.
