The story follows the journey of four families, just few years after the independence of India. The coming of age, brand new freedom, reforming country and whole lot of struggling notions of the western world, this miniseries will definitely put ahead simplicity before everything.
The cast includes of Ishaan Khattar, Tabu, Tanya Maniktala, Shahana Goswami, Danesh Razvi and many more talented and amazing actors. The story is set in the North of India, where a young, University girl has found and come across various new possibilities and educated herself on so many things, that just settling for something very random isn’t her cup of tea at all. Her perseverance makes her go for more, take the leap and break the age old norms of changing the typical stereotypes about women and love in general. Maan Kapoor on the other hand, a young lad of the Kapoor family is smitten by the charms of Saeeda Bai, a much older woman and someone completely out of his family’s caste and religion. All these issues, families, experiencing newer things brings an essence of empowerment to the scene. The strong acting by the leads and the supporting cast mixes and matches so well which makes the story telling of the bygone era beautiful in every sense.
The director of A Suitable Boy is done by the very talented Mira Nair who has earlier been directors of some of the best movies out there. This has just added to the charm of this series. Adapted and written by Andrew Davies, this series was produced by Mira Nair, Andrew Davies and Vikram Seth. The miniseries is just a 6 episode affair which has been already aired by BBC One in England and Ireland. Netflix will be bringing it to India and various other places. The movie is primarily shot in English, Hindi and Urdu. The original release of the miniseries was from 26 July to 24 December, 2020. Netflix on the other hand, will be releasing it on the 23rd of October.
