Jio Hotstar has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming direct-to-digital release ‘Aachari Baa’ and this one’s a feel good drama with a bit cliched storyline. Helmed by Hardik Gajjar, ‘Aachari Baa’ will premiere only on Jio Hotstar on 14th March, 2025.
The trailer unveiled today follows Vaishnavi Behen (Neena Gupta), an old lady living in a small town in Gujarat making aachar and what seemingly looks like having a good time with her friends. But she longs for her son (played by Vatsal Seth) when alone. When her son finally calls her to his home she is on top of the world only to fall down hard and realise she was asked to come take care of their dog in his family’s absence.
While her stay there one day she discovers that her aachar making video has gone viral and then with the people in the society she starts a new journey of her aachar business. Apparently his son feels embarrassed about it but she ain’t ready to give up.
‘Aachari Baa’ is the story of a woman’s resilience and spirit along with all the love and care she gives. Neena Gupta looks perfect in the role as well.
So will this film put a break to the mediocrity curse that Jio Hotstar has been undergoing for its Hindi original content for quite some time now? Well, maybe not that certainly!
Yes ‘Aachari Baa’ looks good on the face of it and maybe it might do well for a niche audience but to bring Hotstar out of the mediocre zone there needs to be something big coming from the streamer. Something that please a larger more diverse group of audience with a genre that grips more people.
