The teaser of the much anticipated movie ‘OMG: Oh My God 2’ is released now. It features Akshay Kumar in the lead role and he will be playing Lord Shiva this time. Previously, in the first movie, he played the role of Lord Krishna, who pretends to be a commoner.
Akshay Kumar has been delivering average movies for a long time and the last time he actually came out with a wonderful project was probably ‘Airlift’ or ‘Rustom’. Despite being such a gifted comedy actor, Akshay Kumar has not done a commendable job in that genre too for long. All he is doing is coming up with ridiculously blunt films like Ram Setu or Laxmii.
But OMG 2 is more promising in every aspect. OMG, that came out in 2012 was a huge hit and has earned a cult level following. OMG was a fresh film with a fresh concept and if the makers want to replicate the success of that film, only the sequel factor will not be enough. The movie has to have a fresh message and a unique storytelling too.
OMG 2 has all the potential of bringing Akshay Kumar back to the mainstream movie business where the actor slightly deviated from. But only if he does not fall prey to the traps of shallow stories, like in ‘Ram Setu’. OMG 2 is a film with much more potential than any other film in the five six year span of Akshay Kumar’s filmography. And even if this movie becomes a big hit, which it probably will be, there are still chances of the actor slipping into delivering average movies. Akshay Kumar will have to keep delivering as per the expectations of the fans even after OMG 2. The fans have been disappointed for long enough, now they deserve to taste something good from their star.
