Will Amazon Prime Revive YouTube’s Wayne With S2?

The year 2020 has been a funny one up until now, with movies that were supposed to release in theatres getting postponed, theatres itself getting shut and whatnot. Well the benefit of this actually went to the streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime. They not only produced content from all of the world and kept people entertained during these tough times, infact they are taking shows off from YouTube and making them their own.

Confused? Well as we go further you’ll understand. Amazon Prime Video recently released an official trailer for Wayne which is a dark action comedy. The show was created for YouTube’s premium outlet which was known as YouTube Red before the change in it’s name. Wayne debuted in 2019 and followed the titular character who is a 16 year old hot headed teenager, a bully of bullies by nature and is coming off from a troubled childhood. With his dad dying recently, he lumped more into sadness. He was told by his dad that his car which belongs to Wayne now was taken by his mother and his boyfriend, Wayne sets his goal to bring back the car from her mother who lives in Florida. Together will his friend Del, he journeys all the way to Florida facing several difficulties on the way.

The show took the viewing charts for a toss. It was one of the best acclaimed shows of 2019 with a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Audience too enjoyed the show thoroughly, but as we know good things generally don’t last [ Oh Mindhunter :'( ], YouTube Premium cancelled the show much to the surprise of the fans who just couldn’t make out what actually happened.

But now, it seems that Amazon Prime has other plans for the show as it is soon to arrive on Prime Video. Just as the trailer was released there was an uproar in comments section regarding the future of the show and with Amazon Prime behind it, the show might actually be back for good. For those who are thinking that this is not possible, Well let me tell you a story.

A show you might be familiar with named Cobra Kai which itself is the follow-up to the original movie debuted on YouTube premium in 2018 and ran for two seasons until in June it was acquired by Netflix who straightaway ordered for a third season.

Here also the scenario is similar to Cobra Kai but the platform is different. Will Amazon Prime Video should go ahead with the series, seeing the blockbuster popularity of the show already and it wouldn’t harm them to cash it in the demands.

The dilemma regarding the second season of Wayne will be cleared once it premieres on Amazon Prime Video, it will be arriving on
November 6th 2020.
