Amazon Prime Video’s blockbuster hit series The Family Man is the hottest and most adored of all Indian web shows put together. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to state that The Family Man 2 is easily one of the most awaited second seasons of any Indian web series until now. What’s more, a massive percentage of its dedicated fans includes Telugu and Tamil viewers. This time around, curiousity about The Family Man 2 will be even higher among Tamil viewers, given the controversy surrounding The Family Man Season 2.
Yet, there’s no word from Amazon Prime Video whether the hotly anticipated show will stream in Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions or not. The platform has not launched any Tamil or Telugu trailers for the show yet. Though the trailer description mentions that the series will launch in Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions on 4th June, Amazon Prime has not given any indication on the same.
This is one area Amazon Prime Video is always grossly lacking in. The other two leading OTT platforms, Netflix and Disney Plus Hotstar, always make it a point to release their premium shows in multiple languages. Disney Plus Hotstar even goes as far as to stream each of its shows in 7 versions – one in the original audio, and six, in dubbed versions of popular Indian languages.
But not Amazon Prime Video. The platform has never launched ANY of its shows in multiple languages EVER. Whether it is hot and buzzing shows such as Mirzapur and Tandav, or new releases such as Paatal Lok and Panchayat. Each time, Amazon Prime Video has released Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions of its shows at least a month and more, after the launch of the original Hindi version. And that too after constant pestering on social media by the numerous regional viewers who have been waiting desperately to watch their preferred shows in their preferred languages.
In the case of The Family Man 2, it remains to be seen whether Amazon Prime Video will follow its previous habit of Hindi only version of shows. Or whether it will release the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions along with the Hindi version, as promised.
All we can say is that we hope we are proved wrong this time, and Amazon Prime Video releases the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions of The Family Man 2 along with the Hindi version.
