Disney’s venture of acquisition is not stopping anywhere soon. With a $4B price tag, they first acquired Marvel in 2009 and later paid the same for the world of Star Wars. But now, as there is a massive boom in the Video Game Industry, Disney is planning to enter that soon.
Disney isn’t really acquiring Epic Games but spending a whopping $1.5B to own a large stake in the company.
As the recent data reads, there are around 3B video game players, and a deal like this is definitely a profitable one in the long run.
Now, this deal will definitely help the studio not only in terms of developing games but with this deal, there can be several big collaborations in certain big games such as Fortnite and RDR.
Currently, the DLC and skin system of such games are increasing; people are eventually investing their money to ‘look cool’ or possess something in the virtual world, and Disney can massively benefit from that.
They did have Marvel and Fortnite pair up, but the MCU isn’t that alienated from such collaborations. But imagine a Darth Vader skin in Fortnite; people will go nuts.
Also, Disney can just make some games with Epic Games, some exclusive games that will benefit both parties, and fans will happily discover the ins and outs of certain adventures.
With Disney’s variety and Epic Games’ expertise, they can make content for all platforms, not only making it more approachable but also making it profitable in all senses.
This brave new world will definitely be under Disney’s control if they manage it right; they will again be a pioneer of certain undiscovered areas of entertainment.
