A movie from the southern regional market being loved by the northern audience is the new normal. Slowly but surely, more and more regional films from the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, or Kannada markets are gaining Pan-India movie status. Double iSmart might be the next addition if it is brave enough to face Stree 2.
Speaking of the sequel’s appeal, iSmart Shankar was a hit, and after five years of waiting, we now have the second part, which is indeed hyped but will have to face some major clashes at the box office. To crack the North Indian market, it has to overcome two underdogs and Stree 2 as the giant.
It will definitely be an action-packed drama, which won’t be the preferred choice for those planning to watch Khel Khel Main, but for the Vedaa audience, Double iSmart might be a viable alternative for action lovers.
Adding the Sanjay Dutt factor, though he is not the biggest draw for Northern audiences, he is still a significant enough presence to attract some viewers. However, this won’t be a determining factor in the Northern market for achieving a breakthrough.
Keeping the sales for action dramas in mind, Vedaa couldn’t crack it in the national chains, and since it will be difficult for Double iSmart to enter the single screens of Hindi audiences, they can definitely attempt to crack the shows at national movie chains like PVR INOX or Cinepolis.
On paper, the Independence Day weekend will be a tough job for Double iSmart, but if it receives praise and Khel Khel Main and Vedaa fall flat, it can definitely be the second-choice film after Stree 2.
BMS is yet to publish ticket sales for Double iSmart, but one update might sadden the fans, as Double iSmart will definitely get extremely limited screens in northern India. Even some of the theaters aren’t confirmed yet, which will leave a bad impression.
