Shoojit Sircar’s I Want to Talk starring Abhishek Bachchan is such a recognizable family saga with issues of personal challenge in the context of humor and emotional depth – the kind of character-driven drama that’s increasingly popular on OTT.
Of course, the entire theme of development as a personal growth in the film is carried through the character of Bachchan-Arjun, reaching out to the viewers in times and a time. Beautifully blended with an emotional appeal is the supporting cast of this film, which includes Johnny Lever.
Piku and Sardar Udham are some of the earlier works of Sircar, which have set the standard high. Those looking for stories with emotional depth would probably like his directing in I Want to Talk.
But since the market of OTT is highly competitive, then it will have to have efficient marketing or audience interaction in order to stand out. For the movie to prosper, it has to make a buzz and hold the audience.
In sum, I Want to Talk has plenty of OTT scope. If marketed well, all the relevant topics, Sircar’s direction and Bachchan’s performance might make this one worthwhile for viewers.
