Reliance Jio has launched its new unlimited offer for the upcoming cricket season that will be focussed on Indian Premiere League (IPL). As per this new scheme you will have to pay to stream the 2025 IPL season, which was free to watch for the past two years.
As per the new mobile recharge plans for existing and new Jio SIM customers, with a plan of Rs. 299 or above, one gets 90-day free JioHotstar on TV / Mobile in 4K.
Well, the promise of offering 4K video streaming is what seems most tempting and troubling at the same time. That’s because Jio Hotstar has barely been able to keep up with it.
Live sports streaming is all about the seamless viewing experience but during the latest ICC Champions Trophy, which streamed on Jio Hotstar, it was pretty bad. Viewers had a lot of complaints regarding the glitches and poor streaming issues. And as for 4K it felt like a far fetched dream.
Now Jio Hotstar might cite reasons like overloading of network resulting in bad quality streaming but then when you pay for it you cannot let it go just like that. Viewer’s rightful expectations for better viewing experience is totally fair. Whether or not Jio Hotstar delivers the same during the IPL 2025, remains to be seen.
