Jon Watts’ latest directional, Spider-Man No Way Home, has grossed more than $1.5 billion at the global box office. It broke several records amid the current COVID pandemic. Now, the helmer has ample free time to direct MCU’s upcoming Fantastic Four. Some rumours stated that he wanted to complete a horror project first. However, he denied all those rumours and confirmed that the forthcoming FF instalment would be his next project for MCU.
Despite all these confirmations, fans have no idea who’s going to don Mr Fantastic’s suit this time. Will we see Ioan Gruffudd again? Or will Kevin Feige go to fan-favourite John Krasinski for the character of Reed Richards? Let’s find out!
We know how badly the MCU fanbase wants Krasinski to join the franchise with the character of Mr Fantastic. According to some latest reports, The Office actor has filmed all his scenes in the impending Doctor Strange sequel with Sam Raimi at the helm. Also, he is believed to play a variant of Reed Richards after the Multiverse’s breach at the hands of Strange. However, Marvel has not confirmed the actor’s addition to the film.
If Krasinski plays Mr Fantastic, then it will not be the first time a fan-favourite performer grabs the role of a superhero in MCU. Benedict Cumberbatch and Hailee Steinfeld have done the same thing in the past. And it will not be a surprise if the on-screen Jim Halpert portrays Richards in future MCU films.
MCU’s Fantastic Four movie will be the final addition to the franchise’s Phase Four. Several notable projects have already lined up before FF’s release. So, we can expect MCU’s FF to come out in 2023 or 2024 with Jon Watts sitting on the director’s chair. As for John Krasinski, only time will tell us if he will appear in MCU or not.
