SAG-AFTRA’s revolution was successful on multiple levels, and one of its biggest victories was raising concerns about the studios’ use of AI. While audiences were somewhat unclear about the specific form of AI the studios might employ, it was evident that they opposed its use.
One of the major controversies arose with “Secret Invasion,” which used AI-generated images for its show intro, despite not using AI for writing or editing. This decision resulted in significant setbacks for the show, sparking controversy alongside its other shortcomings.
Now, let’s return to the present.
“Late Night With The Devil” may face a similar fate as it incorporates some assistance from AI. However, the extent of AI usage is minimal, as the film only employs AI to generate still images used as cutaway transitions.
Audience perception is changing, with initial excitement waning due to the use of AI. Fans are now expressing reluctance to watch the film, citing AI usage as the primary reason.
While AI may help save production costs, it could ultimately lead to a decline in ticket sales. Thus, the creative decision of “Late Night With The Devil” thrusts it into a chakravyuh paradox, leaving a lingering question: Was it worth it??
The thing is, AI is a reality. One can’t come up and say that AI is unnecessary without sounding insane. Naturally, filmmakers would definitely use the latest technology to save some bucks, but it should never be at the cost of compromising on art or even employment for the artists working at the lower order in the film fraternity.
They didn’t care enough to make it, why should I care enough to watch it?

So, it has begun… Art as we know will cease to exist if AI becomes mainstream.
