Laxmmi Bomb, Akshay Kumar’s next is one of the most awaited movies of this otherwise dreadful year, 2020. Set to be released on the 9 th of November, 2020 on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar, this movie is supposed to bring bouts of laughter back to our screens. The movie has an array of amazing actors starting from Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani as leads and joined by an amazing supporting cast.
The movie is the remake of the 2011 Tamil film Muni 2: Kanchana. The movie is supposed to showcase the story of a transgender ghost that apparently possesses Akshay Kumar’s character, “Asif”. The story even though is not completely known but one who has watched the Tamil version will definitely have an idea about it. It is clearly mentioned in the trailer that it is apparently a revenge story of Laxmmi, the ghost that possesses Akshay Kumar but that journey will be shown in a very comedic manner.
Directed and written by Raghava Lawrence, Laxmmi Bomb will mark the directorial debut for Lawrence. Lawrence also wrote, produced and directed the Tamil version of it. It is produced by Cape of Good Films, Fox Star Studios, Shabinaa Entertainment and Tushar Entertainment House. It has music by the very talented Tanishk Bagchi and others. Even though the movie looks very promising, in this age and era, the same stereotypical portrayal of a transgender is what is being talked about. Now, it will be interesting to see whether the comedy will rule everything it out and bring it to the forefront or it will fall prey to the Bollywood stereotypes of transgender acting during the time when people are more woke, sensitive and have attached sentiments to such a topic.
