Will Marvel’s ‘Black Widow’ Finally Solve The Budapest Mystery?

We are less than a month away from one of Marvel’s highly anticipated superhero movies, “Black Widow”. Fans are getting and so are the actors of “Black Widow”. Black Widow is set to release in theatres on July 9th along with Disney+ through Premier Access. The movie is a prequel and will tell the story of Scarlett Johansson’s character Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow. The fans are not quite sure what exactly the movie will tell as fans are witnessing a lot of events that are ready to unfold in the movie.

“Black Widow” is actually set somewhere between the timelines of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. The movie is set to introduce Yelena Belova, Red Guardian as well as Taskmaster. These are some of the very crucial people from Natasha’s past, who are set to essay important roles in upcoming Marvel projects too.

When one talks about Natasha Romanoff’s past, one cannot forget to think about “Budapest”. A topic that constantly keeps popping up in conversations between Clint Barton’s aka Hawkeye and Romanoff. Something really heavy must have gone down in Budapest that it has become such an important part in the MCU today. And, like you and I, everyone is also wondering if “Black Widow” will finally give us a glimpse of what happened in Budapest.

This question was finally answered by Scarlett Johansson, in a recent interview for the promotion of her upcoming Marvel movie. Black Widow is actually filmed in Budapest, and apparently they had a solid reason to do as they wanted to bring out what happened in Budapest and Natasha’s past in Budapest. Scarlett Johansson further commented that apparently Natasha is haunted and whatever went down in Budapest is basically the prime reason for her situation.

The producer of the movie Brian Chapek used the word “MacGuffin” to describe Budapest for the movie. MacGuffin in layman’s language means that something, which is very important and critical for the plot but has very little significance. This brings to the comment of Scarlett, where she mentioned that the movie even though might not give full answers, but it will show how those events still are attached to Natasha and how it affects her. The Budapest event is one of the main reasons that Black Widow has a certain heaviness around her.

If the movie goes on for a flashback and shows what happened in Budapest, then there might be a glimpse of Clint Barton because he is one of the key people in the events. Though nothing about any kind of special appearance from any other Avenger has been disclosed or even leaked as of now. Besides that Budapest events are supposed to also resurface in the Hawkeye series that’s coming up rather quickly now.

Also, shooting in Budapest was actually important for the team as the location gave the movie the perfect East European vibes that it needed for its sequence. Also, Yelena Belova, Natasha’s sister will be in Budapest and meet her sister after 20 years. It is a certain signal from her that will take Natasha back to those haunting memories.

Whatever be it, the more we read, the more it gets exciting. So right now we can only wait for the movie to release and actually see what this much awaited Marvel movie brings to us.
