Have you noticed something?
Only 4 days are remaining for Maharaj on Netflix. Where is the trailer? Where is the teaser? Where is anything apart from that one average-looking poster?
Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, is about to make his acting debut in the YRF film “Maharaj.” However, the film has already sparked controversy even before its release. The Bajrang Dal has threatened to halt the film’s online release, claiming it might portray religious leaders in a negative light. Keep cool guys, these things are the best for publicity.
“Maharaj” is based on the true story of the Maharaj Libel Case of 1862, a significant legal battle in India that established press freedom and exposed the assault of girls in the name of faith. Junaid Khan plays the role of journalist and social reformer Karsandas Mulji, while Jaideep Ahlawat portrays Jadunathji Brijratanji Maharaj, a head of the Vallabhacharya sect.
A spokesperson for the Bajrang Dal has demanded a private screening of the film for the group before its release on OTT platforms. But the question arises, who is Bajrang Dal to judge the film?
The group is concerned that the film may misrepresent religious leaders and hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. They have also threatened to take legal action if their demands are not met.
Director Siddharth P Malhotra and the film’s team have not yet responded to these demands or the threats. The controversy arose as the first look of “Maharaj” was recently released online, with Junaid Khan as a journalist and Jaideep Ahlawat as a religious leader.
With 4 days remaining, there are strong chances that the film may get delayed as a trailer and everything needs time. If that is the case, we will keep you posted.
