Will Netflix’s Shadow and Bone Become Its Very Own Game of Thrones?

Will Netflix’s Shadow and Bone Become Its Very Own Game of Thrones?

Netflix’s upcoming original series “Shadow and Bone” feels like it is just around the corner. The much anticipated, big budget, fantasy, young adult drama series will be released on the 23rd of April, 2021. The trailer is supposed to drop sometime by the next month, which is March. The series is the live action adaptation of the much loved “Grisha Trilogy” books authored by Leigh Bardugo. The books have a fan base of its own and Netflix is making all the efforts to make people fall in love with the series too.

Today’s generation is no stranger to fantasy books being turned into live action series. One of the biggest examples of recent times of this concept has been the much loved “Game of Thrones”. The Game of Thrones series and the books have a huge fan base and it made the fan base out of elements that included things like magic, adventures, fights, creatures of the dark. Well, Shadow and Bone will have the same elements too, memorable characters, magic, adventure and everything else that will completely fulfil a fan’s thirst of fantasy drama.

While most of the time we see medieval England as the background of many fantasy series, it won’t be the case with “Shadow and Bone”. The series is also set to have its own languages just like how Game of Thrones had its Valyrian and Dothraki languages. Infact, the person who is responsible for bringing us both the languages in Game of Thrones, have been entrusted to create languages for Shadow and Bone too.

The series is set in a war torn country, which consists of two armies one that has certain powers and another that doesn’t. The best part here is that, both of them fight not against but together to free their beloved country. The series is said to have some great action sequences, and why won’t they? When you mix man power and magic, it sure is a beauty for one that appreciates.

Another added benefit for the fans of the book is that the show will not only adapt the Grisha trilogy but we will also add parts from the “Six of Crows” duology which is also set in the same Grishaverse but in a different setting according to the books. For someone watching the series, they will get the best of both worlds in just one sitting.

Game of Thrones has been a show that one cannot forget so easily and Netflix is trying to do the same with Shadow and Bone. We, as fans of such series are always rooting for such shows and Netflix has had quite luck with shows like “The Witcher” and “Cursed” earlier. Given that experience, it surely looks like the streaming giant is going all in to bring the experience of the Grishaverse directly on our screens.

Even though this might be one of the biggest series released by Netflix this year, it looks like Netflix won’t let that get to its head. With promotions coming up slowly and steadily, we can assume that whenever Shadow and Bone drops, it will be one great sight for all of us out here.
