TVF has been a pioneer in India’s digital content boom. But with big players like Dharmatic Entertainment and Excel Entertainment stepping in, competition has become tougher. So, how does TVF stay ahead?
Unlike many in the industry, TVF doesn’t sell its shows outright. Instead, it licenses them to streaming platforms, ensuring it keeps control. That’s why a show like Tripling, which started on SonyLIV, later moved to ZEE5. If one platform isn’t interested in renewing a show at the price that TVF wants.
Another big advantage?
TVF’s massive audience which is 50 million strong across social media and YouTube. Platforms know that a TVF show comes with a built-in fan base, making it an easy win.
The thing is, not many production houses have this power. The biggest advantage of TVF is its content. Somehow the platform is well aware of the pulse of the Indian audience and they usually come up with things that become a sensational hit.
But think about all the other companies that are producing OTT content. Most of the time they are average and receive average reception among the masses. They can’t negotiate the same deal as TVF does. So this is a false anxiety that OTT platforms will no longer own the content they start streaming.
But if some other platform emerges as successful as TVF then we are not really sure. It might make things difficult for OTT platforms.
