As the OTT realm gets more affordable and easier to use, in comes a new platform that has probably got countrywide attention over the years. Prasar Bharati, a public broadcaster controlled by the Indian government, is prepared to introduce its own OTT platform with a vast selection of streaming material.
The platform will be unveiled on November 20 at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) opening ceremony in Goa. There will be around 60 channels available from Doordarshan Free Dish to stream on the upcoming OTT platform.
As for subscription plans, most of the services provided by the platform will be free of cost. This is a smart move played by Prasar Bharti as users would love to explore most of the parts of the service for free.
This would also provide some competition for JioCinema as the streaming platform also provides most of its content for free. Given the affordable price rates for JioCinema’s premium plans, Prasar Bharti would certainly keep that in mind while releasing their subscription plans.
It remains to be seen how the OTT phase shapes up after the inauguration of this newest OTT platform on November 20th.
