Prime Video has announced a new series that will be hitting the platform on the 7th of March. It is called Dupahiya and it is a tricky case. At the level of texture, it may look very similar to Panchayat. There is a rural setting, there are real rural problems and of course, it has a lot of fun.
All these elements we see in the trailer of Dupahiya remind us of Panchayat. The blockbuster series on Prime Video is celebrated for its characters, storytelling and brilliant execution.
But there is one difference. While Panchayat is a TVF series, Dupahiya is not.
It is not the rural setting that makes Panchayat such a hit but the overall proximity to reality, which is fascinating.
Even a high-urbane series like Cubicles is celebrated when done in the right manner.
So the stakes are high. Prime Video needs to get this right through hard-hitting dialogues, real-looking stories and so many other elements. TVF usually nails every story to the extent that they look highly entertaining yet real in their presentation.
