Akshay Kumar has been having it tough ever since this year’s beginning and barring Rohit Shetty’s ’Sooryvanshi’ last year, even 2021 wasn’t that great for the ‘Khiladi’ star.
Having a reputation for churning out movies in least time, Akshay Kumar gives out multiple movies in a year when compared to other big stars who mostly come up with a couple of movies maximum. So has this quantity factor affected the quality of his films?
Let’s take his last two films ‘Bachchhan Paandey’ and ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ which failed miserably at the box office. One could let the former pass for once but the later turned out to be major disaster for Akshay given the big scale, big budget Yash Raj banner film it was.
All eyes are now on his upcoming projects that include Anand L. Rai’s family comedy drama ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and Abhishek Sharma’s mythologically inspired action-adventure film ‘Ram Setu’.
Going by the trailer of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ that just got out, the film promises a fun family drama that explores the special bond of a brother with his four sisters. Carrying the responsibility of marrying his sisters with limited resources before uniting with his childhood love, puts him in a tough spot.
Set to release on the festival of Raksha Bandhan itself this latest Akshay Kumar film does not have a thrilling mass appeal like that of ‘RRR’ or ‘KGF: Chapter 2’, but looks like a fun family entertainer packed with comedy, emotions and drama. But will it be enough to bring the much needed turn around for Akshay.
To be honest while the film might attract a decent audience to the theatres, looks like fans will have to wait a bit longer for a big box office blockbuster from Akshay Kumar.
