Allu Arjun‘s latest theatrical outing Pushpa: The Rise faced a pretty sketchy situation in Andhra Pradesh. While the situation was already messed up, owing to the delay in delivery of prints from the movie unit’s side, the government of Andhra Pradesh’s unprecedented impositions added to the misery. In several areas, the collectorates didn’t permit early screenings on the opening day. Consequently, the tickets for the early and as well as regular shows were opened hours ahead of the film’s theatrical release.
It is very much evident that the AP government has decided to go really hard on the Telugu film industry. And here comes the big question. Will RRR fact the problems faced by Pushpa: The Rise in Andhra Pradesh? If the answer is yes, then everyone involved might be having their heart in their mouth.
Owing to the government’s restrictions, the tickets for Pushpa weren’t issued at even major centers in Andhra Pradesh till the last minute. The cinema halls in Tirupati, Kadapa, Chittoor, Anantapur, and other major circuits were permitted to issue the tickets for the morning shows from 10 PM or later in the previous night. This isn’t something one would associate with a big-ticket film.
RRR is the most anticipated Telugu film in recent times and the stakes are exceptionally high on the Jr NTR and Ram Charan starrer. If the ticket allotment issue arises ahead of RRR’s release, it could wreak havoc. Needless to say, RRR features Jr NTR and Ram Charan, who hail from two warring camps in Tollywood. Any issue related to ticket allotment which is warranted by the state government would result in tense situations involving both sets of fans.
In case RRS’s advance bookings aren’t opened much in advance, all hell will break loose and that is for certain. The certain ‘Pushpa’ situation can’t be repeated for RRR. But if the government decides to strongarm the whole development and try to disrupt RRR’s release plan, there is nothing much anyone else can do about it. We simply can’t even imagine the possibility of cinema halls in Andhra Pradesh opening bookings for RRR from 10 PM on 6th January 2022.
