In case you guys missed it (we don’t know how), Indian OTT Zee5 has bagged the streaming rights for the upcoming Indian action period flick, ‘RRR’. This brilliant multi starter is expected to release in theatres globally by mid-October, but acquiring the streaming rights for this film will go a long way among its current subscription base. And if the Telugu film manages to get some of the international clout that Baahubali received, there is a high chance that ‘RRR’ can boost its standing in the United States.
The United States has a lot of Indians, with the majority being Telugu and Tamil speakers. With both language versions of the film going to be available on Zee5 at the time of its release, we expect ‘RRR’ to create enough buzz in the States to cause a small subscription boom for Zee5. With a reported amount of Rs. 300 crores being paid by the Zee group for the film, we expect that the parent company also expects a ripple effect in the US, to some effect.
‘RRR‘ is an upcoming Telugu film that will be released in multiple languages around the globe. The movie is expected to stream in its original language of Telugu, as well as in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada on the OTT platform, Zee5. The movie will however be available on Netflix in Hindi, English, Portuguese, Korean, Turkish and Spanish. The multi starter will be a must-watch in India, but with its international multi-lingual options, we figured that Netflix will gain a small boom in an influx of subscribers – if not in the US, then in the countries with the above-spoken languages.
‘RRR’ is expected to release in theatres on October 13th 2021. Hopefully, the nation will have fared better and the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic will have died down.
