Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar changed the course of Indian cinema forever. The iconic duo changed the way people perceive a cinema hero. In a way, Indians still look for the same qualities within a hero that Salim-Javed adorned them with.
If you see, the character of Rocky from KGF Universe is extremely similar to the typical Salim-Javed story where a man rises from poverty and makes it big while battling the corruption and mafia.
The documentary is getting positive responses from the people, primarily due to the honest reminiscence from those days. People are blatant about their arrogance and the way they dominate the world of cinema.
Moreover, it is full of fascination for any Bollywood lover.
The bottom line is, will Salim Javed change the course of documentaries on Indian OTT the same way they changed Indian cinema?
Well, documentaries have been very Netflix centric on the Indian OTT. Primarily because the platform makes the best documentaries and promotes them rigorously, however, they have been very callous this year.
The miss in Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli is a huge dent in their streak. Soon after, Angry Young Men is looking highly promising. If this Prime Video series does well then perhaps more platforms will jump to make documentaries. That would indeed be exciting and competitive for Netflix India.
