Will Sita Ramam’s Early Premiere Kill The Box Office In Hindi?

After a long long time, we finally have an almost epic love story film from India which falls in the likes of Veer-Zaara, Bajirao Mastani, and more. We are talking about the celebrated Telugu movie Sita Ramam.

The film is led by exceptionally talented Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan. He is doing extraordinarily well in non-Malayalam films as well such as Hey Sinamika, Sita Ramam, and soon in Hindi with Chup.

Apart from him, it has Mrunal Thakur who was spotted in Super 30, Love Soniya, and more. It also stars Rashmika Mandanna who plays the contemporary in the 21st century. The movie is a period drama which talks about the era of the 60s and today as well.

The movie had initially zero buzz in Hindi. But when the trailer and reviews dropped, quite obviously, it was welcomed with praises that talked about the breathtaking beauty of the movie.

Even talking about the box office of the film, it is gaining a good grip and buzz amongst the masses. The makers of the film even posted a thank you message to the audience of Hindi belts in a social media post.

But OTTs are infamous for hampering the box office collection of films. Probably that is the reason cinema owners forced the producers to go for an OTT window of a minimum of 6 weeks which was earlier set to be 4 weeks.

Sita Ramam was released on 5th August and it will start streaming a little over one month after theatrical release.

We are talking about 9th September when the movie will drop in the original Telugu with Tamil and Malayalam audios.

The Hindi audio is likely to stream on Netflix but we do not have any specific release date.

So, it is indeed an unwise decision to release the film on OTT when the movie is doing good in Hindi belts. But given the arrival of Brahmāstra Part One Shiva, it is pretty obvious that no film will survive in that rage.

So, it hardly matters. Sita Ramam had its share of theatrical success and that is it.
