In terms of horror, Stree 2 isn’t just set to create a truly chilling environment for audiences. The pre-release hype promises it is destined to horrify other titles releasing around Independence Day. So, what’s the deal?
Independence Day is one of the most profitable periods for the film market. This year, the competition is intense, but likely more so for other titles, as Stree 2 seems poised for a cakewalk. Let’s talk facts.
Looking at the numbers on BookMyShow for August 10th and 11th, audiences have booked almost 130,000 tickets, which is absolutely bonkers for pre-release figures, and this number will only go up. It’s clear that no other movie is coming close.
In the Hindi belt, Stree 2 will clash with Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa. To paint a picture, around 2,000 tickets have been booked for Khel Khel Mein, and Vedaa has around 5,000, as it’s expected to perform better in non-national chains.
As for the non-Hindi titles, Bengal will see the release of Padatik and Babli. Big Telugu titles include Double Ismart and Mr. Bachchan. The Tamil release is Thangalaan, and Kannada audiences will see Gowri.
On paper, Stree 2 could have faced resistance from regional titles, but ticket sales suggest there is no competition. When Stree 2 slows down, other regional titles might gain traction, but that is just an assumption. Until then, Stree 2 will definitely be haunting other titles.
