The official trailer of ‘Talmar Romeo Juliet’ is out now. The trailer looks good and Anirban is once again killing it with a negative role. Talmar Romeo Juliet is a Hoichoi special and is directed by Arpan Garai.
But there is already a very beautiful adaptation of Romeo And Juliet in Bangla. ‘Arshinagar’ starring Dev, Jisshu Sengupta, Anirban, Waheed Rehman, Roopa Ganguly and many other big names created a huge wave during the time of its release. ‘Arshinagar’ was directed by the talented Aparna Sen and introduced the Hindu-Muslim angle instead of the Montague-Capulet conflict. But now Hoichoi is doing the same thing with Talma. But is it better in any sense?
While Arshinagar was meant for a totally theatrical experience, Talma is for OTT and has the pros and cons of a OTT project. Arshinagar used music in a wonderful way, it was also creative in its use of theatrical elements, but while Talma has the chances to develop the story with more details, it falls short on the theatrics. Anirban Bhattacharya, who was also a part of Arshinagar and is now bringing this show, could have done much better with his experience. Newcomer Arpan Garai has done pretty well as a director, but it still has the wannabe feeling to it, while Arshinagar is the work of a mature director who knows her craft.
The rest we will have to wait and find out. But there are little chances that Talma will top Arshinagar, still we can hope that it finds its audience and is appreciated well enough and not deemed redundant.
