Amazon has previously released ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ which got a mixed reception from critics and audiences alike failing to create a big impact on the digital platform. Several films have since followed the direct-to-digital trend such as ‘Bulbbal’, ‘Bhonsle’ among others who have definitely gotten rave reviews for their performance and storytelling yet failed to create a blockbuster hit for their respective streaming platforms.

Until now the films have lacked a buzz or social media talk before and after the release but that could change with this Vidya Balan starrer film.

The film is an inspiring story of a mathematical genius and has the right combination of drama and inspiration to keep viewers hooked and give the Amazon Prime platform a solid hit. The film is the story of real life ‘human computer’ Shakuntala Devi who was discovered at the age of 5 for solving a complex mathematical problem and has since been known for her ability to solve complex equations quickly. This has got her a place in the ’82 Guinness Book of World Records.

‘Shakunatala Devi’ has been directed by Anu Menon and produced by Vikram Malhotra under Abundantia Entertainment and Sony Pictures Networks Productions and streams on Amazon Prime from July 31st.
