As the second half of October inches closer for OTT audiences, there are some exciting foreign films and web series titles gearing up for their streaming dates. So, we thought of doing a comparative analysis for some of the most anticipated foreign films and shows that are expected to release on OTT platforms during the remaining half of the month of October.
But how do we precisely quantify the anticipation around a film or series just before its release? One way is to observe the total number of views for the film or show’s official trailer released on YouTube. Another parameter can also be the number of likes (or dislikes) for the film or show’s trailer.
But since we can consider just one, we have taken into account the total number of trailer views (at the time of writing this article) for the foreign film/series, to compile a list of the top five most anticipated foreign film/series slated to release in October second half.
These films/show’s trailers were released at different points in time in the last few weeks, and we have used total trailer views to ascertain the films/show’s current buzz. And in case there were two trailers of the same title, we have considered the more recent one uploaded by one platform, for all titles, for the sake of consistency and recent buzz. For this article, we have considered titles releasing on and after 15th October 2021 until 31st October 2021 because some good titles were slated for Dussehra release.

So, as you can observe from the above data, the third season of the Netflix psychological thriller series ‘You’ has topped the list as per trailer views. And platform-wise, Netflix leads in this parameter, as the most anticipated title ‘You’ will stream on this OTT platform. The show follows a dangerously obsessed bookstore manager who can go to any lengths for a romantic relationship with the women he falls for.
The second title on the list is the Netflix horror-thriller film ‘Hypnotic’. The plot revolves around a woman who is undergoing a personal and professional crisis. When she takes help from a mysterious hypnotherapist, she has to face unanticipated consequences.
And on third place is the third season of the comedy-drama series ‘Succession’. The show’s plot revolves around the Roy family, who are owners of the media and entertainment giant RoyCo. When the company’s founder (Brian Cox) decides to step down owing to his deteriorating health, his four children gear up to compete for control of their father’s company.
While the sci-fi comedy film ‘Free Guy’ featuring Ryan Reynolds as a non-player-character (NPC) bank employee inside a video game, holds the fourth spot on the list. The film revolves around how a protagonist saves his virtual world from getting erased by the creator of the game. And the fifth place is held by the documentary film ‘Maradona: Blessed Dream’ based on the legendary Argentinian football player Diego Maradona.
